...and Nikolai began to narrate:
"She followed us, right, I noticed that.
I mean, what did she imagin?
She's not trained for that, did she think she could outsmart me? I had warned her not to follow us... But she didn't obey.
For a while I thought I could take care of her, too, after all she was very close, but when we saw the controllers it was clear to me that it was only a matter of time. That's why I left you behind, for it should be easier for me to concentrate on her."
"And why didn't you return? Why you didn't tell me?"
"I should have done, you're right. But I thought I could handle it. I went on, but then the monolith fighters became

[Return to the Zone] - 29/33 - About Valentine...
Valentine had lived in Bournemouth in the South of England. He had long served in a special unit of the British army and afterwards he had worked for private security companies. This had ultimately led him into the Zone. He did not want to and was not allowed to give details.
How he had met Nikolai, he had already told us.
I learned from him that he had been married and had a son. He was also divorced, which probably connected him with Nikolai.
He told me that his son had given him the name, it had been his favorite character in a computer game, a detective who was actually a robot. The boy had found that very cool.

I found a place outside,
where I could be alone.
There's nowhere else to hide,
no place I can call "home".
The sky was crying with me,
cold rain was pouring down.
But suddenly it hit me
after I looked around.
Instead of lucid water
it was raining blood.
A liquid growing hotter
began forming a flood.
Blood was covering my feet,
slowly it reached my knees.
But how could I retreat?
I actually felt pleased.
The sky wasn't just crying,
it was wounded and it bled.
And together we were dying,
while sharing the same bed.

Nothing happened for the rest of the week.
We did a few more tours, especially in the Yantar area, and I noticed that Kusnez was obviously looking for someone. This stalker without a PDA? But he didn't talk to me about it.
Even Lukash knew nothing. So I had no choice but to restrict on observation..
Then we returned to the station to meet Nikolai's group there.
We had conquered a whole loung area - a few old armchairs with tattered covers, a worn out couch and an even older table from which the varnish flaked off into strips
- and we ate and drank and laughed. There was beer and vodka again, smoked cheese, bread and sausage, and I had som

Back to the station I set myself apart and climbed on the roof, to reflect my thoughts, to work up the killed men...
And gues who was there before me?
Nikolai.
He sat there, smoking. As if he was waiting for me.
Had I coincidentally discovered his favourite place? Or did he wait in point of fact?
Now he could have said something like 'are you following me?' or 'what are you doing here?' But I had the impression, he already knew the answer, so he skipped that step.
Wordless he gave me a metal cup with hot coffee - without any warning like 'be careful, hot.' But I was already warned when I smelled the coffee.
How did he knew? Where did he ge
